Dr. Diane Ravitch & Stronger Public Schools
Dr. Ravitch is a former senior official of the Bush Administration in education who has repudiated high stakes testing. She gave remarks tonight at Herbst Theater about the assault on public education.
I highly recommend her book The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education.
In her remarks, she lauds the educational system in Finland where the focus is not on high test scores but on fostering the humanity of our children. Food for thought.
